Call for Submissions

Khronos, a publishing house specializing in cultural mediation, is launching its historical fiction collection — and looking for voices to bring it to life!

Because the past is not a cold storage room. Because the crises, the upheavals, the women and men of bygone eras have things to tell us that the present no longer knows how to hear, we are convinced that historical fiction is one of the most powerful tools for understanding today’s world. It is in this spirit that we are opening this call for submissions.

What we’re looking for

At Khronos, History is not a simple backdrop that can be swapped from one century to another: it is the flesh and breath of the story. The chosen period must be inseparable from it, inhabited with rigor and passion. All eras are welcome — provided they are fully brought to life.

We will be especially receptive to texts that blend historical fiction with speculative and pop-culture genres: thriller, crime, adventure, fantasy, alternate history, war fiction… The combinations are endless; our standards are not. We will pay close attention to the quality of the writing, the pacing, and the generosity of the text. Accessible does not mean unambitious.

Khronos’s commitments

  • Zero cost to the author: you don’t pay a single cent, and you are paid for your work
  • A proper contract signed between the publishing house and the author
  • Long-term support: editorial follow-up, proofreading by a certified professional, and layout, all handled by Khronos
  • Promotion and distribution handled by the publisher, in collaboration with the author
  • Clear, regular communication on sales: so the author can track their book’s progress in complete transparency
  • Recognition of the author’s research work through complementary digital content that extends the reading experience beyond the novel

Technical criteria

  • Historical fiction only: historicity must be at the heart of the story
  • 350,000 characters minimum
  • Target audience: adults and young adults
  • Format: standalone novels only — short stories, novellas, and multi-volume series are excluded
